16 Jul Mayworks 2015: Call for Submissions
Mayworks is a special little festival that happens each year around the beginning of May. The timing marks May Day, an international day of worker resistance (like Labour Day but decidedly revolutionary).
They’re tagline is “The Celebration That Knows Its History.” History plays a big part, political and activist themes drive the character of this festival making them quite at home here at the Bus Stop. We’ve hosted Mayworks events every year since its inception in 2009.
MayWorks is mostly funded by labour organizations and ensures participating artists are paid to a union standard. The festival is an effort to establish stronger ties between worker organizations and the arts community. Drawing political lines around areas of common struggle and shared visions of social justice.
There’s an open submission process without restrictions on discipline.
