JOB POSTING: INTERIM GENERAL MANAGER

HOURS: 32 hours/week from December 1st, 2020 – November 1st, 2021 (11 months)

This is an interim position with a defined period of 11 months to cover a parental leave of absence.

PAY: $20.00 / hour

TRAINING & SUPPORT:

The hired candidate will work alongside the current General Manager for a three week period prior to being given charge of their responsibilities. Training and support will be provided to ensure a smooth transition and comfort in the position.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience in a managerial position (any field or sector)
  • Experience in customer service
  • Experience in a bar environment an asset
  • Experience in event coordinating or theatre an asset
  • Experience in bookkeeping an asset
  • Experience in website maintenance and online newsletters an asset
  • Knowledge of the NS arts sector an asset
  • Knowledge of co-operatives an asset
  • Self-motivated

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the rental and bar operations of the theatre and respond to related inquiries;
  • Ensure that technicians, bartenders and front of house staff are assigned to hosted events as requested by renters and in collaboration with the Technical Director;
  • Relay renter contact information and any preliminary rental information to the Technical Director;
  • Ensure that the facilities of the Co-op are kept clean, functional and safe;
  • Coordinate access to the theatre by renters as needed;
  • Supervise the work of the Technical Director, cleaner and casual contracted staff, give direction when needed, and participate in performance reviews for each;
  • Update the signage in the lobby displaying the list of upcoming events;
  • Conduct bookkeeping and orders as needed for the operations of the bar and theatre in collaboration with the Executive Director;
  • Disburse payment to casual contracted staff in collaboration with the Executive Director;
  • Manage and update the Co-op’s website;
  • Report to the Executive Director weekly, and report to the Board of Directors monthly;
  • Act as a public face for the Co-op and engage with Co-op members as needed;
  • Assist the Co-op’s Board of Directors and Committees in their tasks as needed.

This job is being offered with the assistance of Canada Summer Jobs. To be eligible you must be:

  • between the ages of 15-30
  • a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
  • legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Acquisition and cataloguing of digital and other historical materials related to past activity at the Bus Stop Theatre;
  • Creation of an online database and gallery;
  • Conduct research into past activities of the Bus Stop Theatre in collaboration with Bus Stop staff;
  • Organize collection of print materials.
