1 -Theatre Capacity and Set up

Due to current health and safety regulations, we will be implementing the following changes to the standard theatre capacity and set up of the space:

  • Audience risers will be removed from the space to allow for easier social distancing.
  • Audience seating will be placed 6ft apart. Groups can be   seated together in groups of 10 or less if requested in advance, so that we can pre-set the chairs.
  • The lobby will be clearly labeled with an IN and OUT route for audience/performers and used as a thoroughfare only. No stopping in the lobby will be allowed except for the washrooms and bar.
  • A Bus Stop Staff Member will be at the front door to greet all performers/audience, and explain to them the layout of the space upon entry.
  • *Please see attached images for reference*. In our “standard setup” we will be able to seat 10-15 audience members. In our “corner stage setup” we will be able to seat 16-20 audience members. In both cases, group clusters allow for the upper range capacity of each setup.
  • Different stage setups can be submitted to BSTC staff for review if neither of the above suit your event needs .
  • Renters must use the BSTC technician to operate their show, or may use one (1) BSTC approved technician for their event, as there is not enough space in the tech booth to socially distance.

2 -Renter/performer Requirements

All renters/performers will be asked to sanitize their hands upon entrance to the space (sanitizer will be provided at the front door).

All renters/performers will be required to wear a mask in the space unless backstage or in the performance designated space.

All renter/performers must maintain 6ft of distance from audience members during the performance.

Groups using the dressing room/backstage area must know in advance that it is a small area and does not allow for proper social distancing.

Groups in the dressing room/backstage area cannot exceed 10 people.

All renters/performers must wait for all audience members to exit the building before entering the audience designated area/lobby after a performance.

All renters/performers must provide contact information (phone number or email address) to assist with contact tracing in the case that someone in the space tests positive for Covid-19. This information will be kept confidential.

3 -Audience Requirements

All audience members will be asked to sanitize their hands upon entering the space (sanitizer will be provided at the front door).

All audience members will be required to wear a mask in the space unless seated at their designated place during the performance

All renters/performers must provide contact information (phone number or email address) to assist with contact tracing in the case that someone in the space tests positive for Covid-19. This information will be kept confidential.

All audience members must maintain a distance of 6ft from performers/other audience members, with the exception of other audience members who are part of a same group cluster.

All audience members must respect directions from BSTC Staff and signage.

4 -Sanitization Protocol

The lobby/theatre/dressing room will be cleaned and all surfaces sanitized prior to each rental.

In the case of multi day rentals, the space will be cleaned additionally each night/morning before the renter arrives (depending on what works best for their schedule).

For multi day rentals, the renter is responsible for cleaning/sanitizing the dressing room and any equipment which will be used by multiple people.

Lobby touch surfaces (bathrooms, door handles, etc.) will be sanitized additionally during the performance and after intermission.

Cleaning products will be provided for the renter to use in the space.

5 -Bus Stop Staff

Bus Stop staff will provide the following staff for all audience attended events:

  • Door person: This person will greet all audience members, explain the layout of the space, take down their contact information (to assist with contact tracing if necessary), provide masks if needed, and hand sanitizer.
  • Bar staff: The bartender will run the bar and sanitize the payment machine in between each use. Audience members will be asked to leave all bottles/glasses under their seat in the theatre and the bartender will clear these at the end of the night.
  • Usher: As there is not room to socially distance in the doorway to the theatre, the usher will be controlling the flow of people between the theatre and the lobby, and directing the audience to their designated seats.
  • Technician: The technician will operate light/sound for the renter and is the designated person to lead the audience/performers out of the space in case of an emergency.
