In a haunting world of shadows and make-believe, watch three enchantingly grotesque characters struggle with vanity, power, and who makes the rules.
The play tells the story of three women living in isolation who have fallen prey to the vicious vanity of one. The women are free to play their games of ludicrous invention until tyrannical fantasies go too far. Enclosed in a haunting world of shadows and make-believe, the show addresses power hierarchies and how the ego of one can be the destruction of many. Grey Gardens meets Looney Tunes in this absurdist fall brought to life with shadow play, outlandish physical comedy, and enchantingly grotesque characters.
A Feebleminded Dictator is an original shadow play created by international trio Erin Johnston (Canada), Brittny Rebhuhn (IA) and Kate Tobie (CA). Originally created as their thesis piece at Dell’Arte International School of Physical Theatre, the trio has continued to develop and tour the piece, recently working at Mermaid Theatre of Windsor’s Loft Residency program. Coming up next is Edmonton Fringe 2018!
