About This Project

Ann-Marie is an award-winning theatre director, actor and teacher. Her work has been presented nationally and internationally including the Globe Theatre (Regina), Neptune Theatre (Halifax), Alberta Theatre Projects (Calgary), Festival TransAmériques (Montreal), Under the Radar (NYC), Magnetic North Theatre Festival (Canada), Soulpepper Theatre Company (Toronto), Luminato Festival (Toronto), Cork Midsummer Festival (Ireland), Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Sydney Festival (Australia), Carrefour international de theatre (Quebec City), Groundswell Festival (Toronto) and UNO Festival (Victoria, BC).

Recently directed: Many Loves (Queer Acts Festival), Fall Out (Eastern Front/Willpower Theatre); Loveplay (National Theatre School); Adam Lazarus’ solo show Daughter (Summerworks); The Circle (Alberta Theatre Projects & National Theatre School); Cathy Jones’ solo show Stranger to Hard Work (Stages Festival, upcoming High Performance Rodeo); Cliff Cardinal’s The Anderson’s (National Theatre School); a workshop of Mass, a large-scale production with a 15-voice choir set in a church in collaboration with singer-songwriter Tanya Davis.
Upcoming: I Claudia (Neptune Theatre 2017 season; Northern and Eastern Canada tour); The Secret Lives of Mothers (Theatre Centre, Toronto with Hannah Moscovitch, Maev Beaty and Tova Smith).

Other directing includes: Robert Chafe’s As Ever (Mulgrave Road Theatre) I, Claudia (Globe Theatre, Regina SK); The Debacle (Zuppa Theatre Company); Brecht’s The Good Soul of Szechuan (Dalhousie Theatre); Anthony Black’s Invisible Atom (2b theatre company, multiple award-winning including Herald Angel Award Edinburgh); So…What about Love (Dapopo Theatre at Super Nova Festival Neptune Theatre); co-directed Zuppa Theatre’s Five Easy Steps to the End of the World; A Rescue Demonstration for ARD Projects (Plutonium Playhouse); The Comedy of Errors at Dalhousie Theatre; and Daniel MacIvor’s Confession (Mulgrave Road Theatre).

Select teaching: National Theatre School (8 years), Soulpepper Theatre Company’s Academy and Youth Mentorship Program (5 years), Globe Theatre School, Acadia University, Dalhousie University, University of Toronto, National Arts Centre and George Brown College. She is a graduate of Ecole internationale de théâtre Jacques Lecoq in Paris and York University in Toronto. She is the former Artistic Associate of Magnetic North Theatre Festival (4 years).
