Originally from Moncton, NB. James Corbett is an actor, director, playwright and Theatre instructor who now calls Halifax, NS home. He has performed and trained in Theatre and Film & Televison in Canada, South Korea, Russia, and in London, including on the West End. He holds his MFA in Acting from The East 15 Acting School in the UK, where he had the opportunities to act with Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, and to train with GITIS, the National Theatre Academy in Moscow, Russia. Since coming back to Canada, James has performed in the NotaBle Acts Theatre Festival and with companies such as The Capitol Theatre, HubCity Theatre, Next Folding Theatre and Solo Chicken Productions, and with film companies such as Tell Tale Productions, HR Productions, and Topsail Entertainment. He was the founding Artistic Director of Imaginary Circumstances Theatre, who were selected as part of the TNB Presents… series, where they performed Thom Pain (based on nothing) by Will Eno. He directed a Comedy of Errors for Hubcity Theatre’s Shakespeare in the Park, and was Assistant Director for Theatre New Brunswick’s productions of Private Lives, and a Miracle on 34th St. He is currently completing his first full length play and hopes to put it into production soon.
