About This Project

Lisa Roberts was elected for the NDP as the MLA for Halifax Needham in an August 2016 byelection and re-elected in 2017.  Her electoral district encompasses the diverse and vibrant neighbourhood known as the North End of Halifax.  Lisa advocated for the Bus Stop Theatre Coop with the Department of Communities, Culture and Heritage and is thrilled that this crucial piece of cultural infrastructure has been saved. Let the shows go on!

Prior to holding political office, Lisa worked for several years to strengthen community ties in Halifax Needham by collaborating with neighbours, faith communities, schools, non-profit organizations and municipal councillors as facilitator of the North End Community Circle and then Executive Director of Veith House. She had an earlier career as a journalist, primarily with CBC Radio

Lisa has a Masters in Development Economics and a BA in International Development Studies, both from Dalhousie University.  She has spent considerable time in Guatemala, Mexico and Cuba and speaks Spanish and French fluently. She and her partner, Andrew, have two children and live in Halifax Needham.
